Testimonials

Meet the Dayaway Alums

Dayaway was recommended by a friend as a curated site for new grads looking for a role in cleantech. Mike listened to my interests, forwarded relevant resources, and connected me to cleantech professionals for informational interviews. I recommend all my mentees to use Dayaway and talk to Mike.
Sean Shitamoto
R&D Mechanical Engineer, UC Berkeley 2025, MS
"Mike's work at Dayaway helped me to deepen my interest in energy and sustainability by allowing me to talk to cleantech professionals through his vast network. Although I was uncertain about the direction of my career, talking with him gave me assurance that my skill set and background are valuable in the clean tech industry. His website is great for getting idea on what roles are available out there!"
Xavier Jiang

“Dayaway connected me with a national lab opportunity I never would’ve found elsewhere. Smooth process and high-quality jobs.”
David Kim
Invenergy, Process Engineer Tufts 2023, BS Chem E
I reached out to Mike and he went out of his way to have a phone call with me supporting my post-MBA job search. He not only gave me practical tips on structuring my job search and multiple lists of companies I would be interested in, he also gave me a lot of hope by sharing the career journeys of others Dayaway had helped over the years.
Jaya Uppal
MBA Leadership Development Program, Michigan Ross, 2025
"I met Mike as the only Nigerian in the Emerging Clean Energy Leaders by Energy Terminal cohort at a point where I had more ambition than direction. I reached out because someone who had built a platform specifically for early-career energy talent felt like exactly the right person to talk to. At the time, I did not consider myself a next gen energy leader, but through conversations with Mike, a depth of clarity began to form in ways I did not expect. He also connected me with energy professionals who filled in gaps I didn't even know I had. Today I work for one of the largest IPPs in Africa, and I draw a straight line from those conversations with Mike in 2023 and 2024 to where I stand now. Looking forward, I can dream a lot larger because of him."

"While the breadth of opportunities in the climate space can seem overwhelming at first, Mike was instrumental in helping me find the right niche and weigh the long-term pros and cons of different roles. The connections I made through the Dayaway network also gave me an inside look into different parts of the industry, helping me make an informed decision on my future career trajectory."
Casey Schoff
Consultant - U.S. Energy & Resources Duke 2023, BS
"Mike introduced me to several young professionals in the industry, one of whom was a philosophy graduate who kindly took me out for cocktails in DC. This fellow Dayawayer helped me understand that although the humanities background might be a tough pitch for the first job, tenacious critical thinking showcased in entry-level positions can help us BAs earn early promotions and find enduring success. I now work for the Octopus Energy Collective, a retail investment platform for renewable energy investments."Mike's work at Dayaway helped me to deepen my interest in energy and sustainability by allowing me to talk to cleantech professionals through his vast network. Although I was uncertain about the direction of my career, talking with him gave me assurance that my skill set and background are valuable in the clean tech industry. His website is great for getting idea on what roles are available out there!"

A Message from Our Founder

I chose the name Dayaway from a Jackson Browne lyric, ‘I’m just a day away from where I want to be.’ The words “day away” emphasize forward thinking and the hope and promise of a better tomorrow – as does clean energy. "Day away" also captures the mix of confidence and uncertainty students feel while pursuing their dreams - the tension from getting close but not quite there. Sometimes, just a little can help make a dream come true. That’s what Dayaway Careers is all about.”

Our Values

Core Values Driving Our Vision

Cleantech is a huge field and finding a job takes a lot of time. Our filters enable you to narrow the field so you can prioritize and focus your time.
Submitting online job applications is not the best use of your time. But, studying online job listings tells you the skills and experience you need, the roles that are natural fits and long shot possibilities for your degree and major, and, the companies you need to connect into.
Some people end up where random connections take them. Our job filters empower you to discover the sectors, companies and roles that interest you so you can build targeted connections to get you hired at these places.
Dayaway is self-funded and free for everyone. There is no catch. We’ve invested in tomorrow’s energy professionals since 2009
We personally review all of our listings to make sure they are cleantech + college degree + entry level + fresh.
Dayaway allows you to ignore the things that don’t interest you and focus on the things that do. And to do all this quickly.

Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about using Dayaway Careers and getting job alerts.
If you still have a question

Most people get jobs from personal recommendations. Recommendations come from talking to people, from networking.  Our online listings help you help you do this more strategically and efficiently by help you identify the people and companies you need to be talking to as well as the job roles, skills and experiences you need to understand when you talk to them.

No.  You are free to browse jobs anonymously and apply directly on the sites from which Dayaway harvested the jobs.  You will need to create a profile if you want to receive job alerts and/or our weekly newsletter.

Yes.  You can create a profile containing customized filter settings (e.g., location, industry, major, etc.) and have the jobs emailed to you daily or weekly.

Yes.  Super simple,  By clicking “post a job” a company can send in a job link.  No need to create a company profile,  Job searchers will apply directly on the company site.  All this is free.

Dayaway does not sell or disclose your data for personal gain.  We use it solely to send you job alerts and the weekly newsletter.  Check out our privacy policy for a more complete answer.

Dayaway checks for new listings Monday through Friday.  We eliminate jobs with a posting date (by the company) more than a week old.

Most of our jobs are harvested from the big boards like LInkedin, Indeed, etc.  We know most students really want the jobs that don’t hit the big boards.  Listing these jobs are our number 1 priority.

We list jobs requiring 0-2 and 2-4 years of experience for undergrad, masters and PhD students.  We additionally list jobs requiring 4-6 years of experience for MBA candidates as they often have worked at this level before going to B school

We agree these terms are sometimes confusing.  We are listing jobs from companies whose products and services (a) produce power or transportation with no or minimal carbon pollution or (b) which help people significantly reduce pollution from traditional fossil fuel sources.

We love to answer questions.  Dayaway’s founder, Mike Brownell, loves to answer career related questions and to connect job seekers with young professionals working in cleantech.
